The Emergency Field Coordinator, in coordination with the Technical Coordinators and under the leadership of the Country Director and DCD - Programmes, leads the Emergency Field Team and implements SI's emergency response strategy across all active governorates. They actively coordinate with humanitarian partners, clusters, and local authorities to identify emergency needs, address response gaps, and propose appropriate actions. The Coordinator closely monitors security in operational areas, negotiating access to hard-to-reach zones. They oversee support departments, ensuring adherence to SI procedures. As Field Coordinator, they hold Programmes and HR responsibility, ensuring donor compliance and timely emergency responses to alerts.
The Emergency Field Coordinator will require a strong emergency mindset to impulse a new modality as first-responder in a team that has often operated as second-liner. Specific challenges associated with the position relate to implementing emergency response programming in Yemen; i.e. insecurity and access constraints (including administrative access constraints), challenging coordination between humanitarian actors along with poor reliability of secondary data in hard to reach locations. The Emergency Preparedness and Response Strategy 2023/24 for the Yemen Mission has recently been developed and needs a strong leader for actual implementation.
