Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Team Leader based at Delhi for improving the ecosystem of nursing and midwifery cadre in India. The position will overall in-charge of the day-to-day operations of the program and will work closely with the Government and engage with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, strategic direction for the project, ensuring alignment with the priorities of government and stakeholders'.
  • Oversee project planning, implementation, and reporting, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
  • Ensure project activities are evidence-based, data-driven, and aligned with national standards.
  • Support bringing in key evidence-based nursing cadre strengthening interventions from various states and to implementation in other states through a nationally driven approach.
  • Collaborate with different departments and organizations by fostering co-creation and consensus building towards innovative interventions to introduce and execute a competency framework for both preservice and in-service nursing reforms.
  • Ensure timely implementation of assigned project activities as per the agreed annual project work plans.
  • Organize, manage and provide programmatic and technical inputs for the projects from international and national staff, partners and short-term consultants to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Oversee and support the development of assessment tools, learning resource packages, documents, reports, and presentations according to the project and Jhpiego guidelines for internal project needs and externally for dissemination.
  • Track project performance indicators, document lessons learned, and adapt strategies as necessary to improve impact and sustainability.
  • Develop, implement and manage a knowledge management plan for the project to ensure that key project achievements and lessons learned are documented.
  • Oversee/prepare donor progress reports to ensure donor and government reporting needs are met.
  • Support and supervise project staff, ensuring team members have the skills and support needed to perform effectively.
  • Provide mentoring and capacity-building opportunities for project staff and, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Work to ensure efficient and effective office operations, maximizing the input and support of all Jhpiego staff and consultants as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance to Jhpiego policies, systems and processes.
  • Represent Jhpiego at various meetings and conduct advocacy for the assigned projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, with minimal supervision, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as per the need.

Required Qualifications

Abilities/Skills:

  • Ability to work with a diverse technical team.
  • Ability to multitask and work under multicultural environment.
  • Ability to drive the vision and manage a diverse set of team members, mentoring them and providing management oversight to all the teams.
  • Build excellent working relationships with all key stakeholders in the ministry of health and other ministries at the national level.
  • Excellent diplomacy skills and a proven ability to establish and maintain interpersonal and professional relationships with government, donors and representatives from other key stakeholders such as NGOs, CSOs, and the private sector.
  • Ability to oversee the development and implementation of a high-quality monitoring and evaluation framework for the project.
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines.
  • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building, and coordination.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time.

Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in public health, policy, health reform, management, or a related field.
  • 12-15 years of professional experience working in healthcare, Human resource for health interventions, as well as previous experience leading teams for project implementation.
  • Extensive experience working with counterparts at various levels of government and the nongovernment sector in managing international development assistance projects.
  • Strong technical expertise, good management skills, and extraordinary communication skills are the essentials for this position.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of nursing regulation and National Nursing and midwifery commission (NNMC) Act 2023.
  • Experience of working in nursing projects will be desirable.
  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, organizational, team-building, and representational skills.
  • Familiarity with the Indian health system, newer initiatives in health sector and relevant government policies/strategies particularly National/State Health Mission.
