POSITION MANDATE
The Director of Impact Advisory is responsible for helping to lead and grow Resonance’s Impact Advisory practice. They play a critical leadership role in achieving and maximizing top-line revenue and gross margin for all impact advisory (IA) client engagement. They play a leading role in converting promising leads to relationships and ultimately revenue- driving growth and expansion in line with Resonance’s goal of becoming the most sought-after impact consultancy. Importantly, the Director will mentor and supervise RIA staff in support of business development objectives, including proposal development processes, CRM and thought leadership.
In addition to helping lead growth and expansion, the Director will be in charge of effectively and efficiently using company billable personnel and workflow management. They will also ensure that RIA projects deliver outstanding technical work to our commercial clients.
An integral member of the Extended Leadership Team, the Director reports directly to the RIA Managing Director.

This full-time position may require travel to developing countries to support project implementation activities.
OUTCOMES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Business Development (Operationalization) (60%)
- Lead the RIA team in developing winning proposals and scopes of work for new or existing clients that showcase current services and offer innovative approaches to existing business and sustainability challenges;
- Develop and sustain trust-based relationships with C-level executives;
- Partner with senior leadership to hone and drive the execution of the strategic vision and plan to grow our market presence and footprint;
- Actuate business development and marketing efforts that result in closed/signed deals and achieve revenue targets, including;
- Driving significant top-line and bottom-line revenue growth;
- Ensuring BD operations and staff are strategy-aligned and effectively and efficiently executing BD processes and operations;
- Operationalizing BD lifecycle elements to increase our clients through the client lifecycle, from awareness to execution and expansion;
- Provide RIA team members feedback regarding frameworks, methods, and qualifications to improve the likelihood of success and translate our client work into expanded business development opportunities;
- Grow relationships with existing clients, leveraging Resonance’s unique capabilities in innovation, partnerships and finance, identify and land new work and increase revenue growth;
- Expand our position among prospective corporate clients through highly targeted blog posts, case studies, and articles demonstrating Resonance’s leadership in building partnerships.
Team Leadership 20%
- Supervise a team of goal-achieving high performers to deliver high-quality work product and results, leveraging the experience and expertise of the matrixed Deputy Director;
- Set, monitor and manage business-success OKRs, the achievement of which yields measurable expected outcomes and progressive business change;
- Partner with the matrixed Deputy Director to execute staff engagement strategy by providing mentorship and guidance to staff on all facets of work planning and execution to fulfill the company’s contracts and meet the needs of our government clients;
- Ensure that each team member has OKR(s) to participate in role-relevant learning and development that helps drive competence, technical excellence, team camaraderie, and cohesion;
- Serve as a senior resource to client teams, reviewing and ensuring high quality deliverables for key client workstreams;
- Own RIA business budgets by maintaining and tracking all project spend and staff utilization;
- Enable and support organization in driving social, economic, and environmental impact.
Client Relationship and Project Delivery Management (20%)
- Manage a defined number of new and existing client relationships and accounts that yield a targeted number of bids, project wins, and new client revenue by developing and executing projects that assist clients in realizing their sustainability and climate impact goals globally and at a local level;
- Grow relationships with existing clients, supporting new areas of exploration within their unique sustainability challenges and aspirations, identifying new areas of work, and achieving overall business growth;
- Develop progressive, fact-based, and achievable sustainability strategies and operating models to enable corporate strategic objectives;
- Oversee the delivery of high-quality, high-client-satisfaction-rated advisory services to clients, ensuring excellent project implementation and management;
- Direct the planning and execution of project management workflow, including matching staff with appropriate assignments;
- Ensure the development of strong and positive working relationships with clients and partners.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Advanced degree in agriculture, environmental science, business administration, or related field;
- At least twelve (12) years of management consulting experience that includes client account management and service delivery management, preferably in the corporate sustainability or philanthropy space;
- At least ten (10) years of experience managing projects and business development, including leading client proposals and subsequent engagements;
- At Least ten (10) years of experience in networking and relationship building for high-value clients;
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development of successful client proposals and subsequent engagements, particularly with large philanthropies and corporations;
- At least five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: corporate sustainability, philanthropy sustainable/regenerative agriculture, supply chain sustainability or climate adaptation and resilience;
- At least two (2) years of relevant work with internationally focused client projects, preferably focused on Africa, Asia or Latin America;
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong team leadership skills;
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
- Ability to travel up to 30% on short notice;
- Eligibility to work in US.
