Job Description
CNFA is currently seeking qualified candidates for Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for the upcoming USAID Egypt Climate Resilient Agricultural Market Systems Activity. This Activity aims to improve the sustainable productivity of smallholder farmers, strengthen the role of market-driven service providers, and improve the environment that enables agriculture and food security. The DCOP will support the COP in all aspects of project management, coordinate technical and operational functions, identify and mitigate risks, and work closely with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory and management experience, knowledge of climate-smart market systems development programs, and specialized technical expertise in one or more of the Activity’s goal areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Chief of Party in providing technical and operational leadership and guidance.
- Lead development and implementation of annual work plans and quarterly and annual reports.
- Manage technical component and operational team leads and provide guidance and oversight to ensure that activities comply with USAID and CNFA regulations and guidance.
- Support the strategic vision laid out by the COP by guiding key technical staff and their teams to work efficiently and effectively toward Activity objectives.
- Ensure that team leaders integrate gender equality and youth empowerment considerations into all activities.
- Liaise with USAID regarding day-to-day implementation and management matters and serve as the primary liaison to USAID when the COP is absent.
- Lead meetings with private and public sector stakeholders as requested by the COP.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of seven years of experience managing similar donor projects, preferably in the Middle East or North Africa.
- Demonstrated experience working in agricultural development, climate adaptation and mitigation, climate smart technologies, climate finance, and/or private sector climate investment.
- Proven technical leadership or management experience on an agriculture market systems, private sector engagement, or other agribusiness programs is preferred.
- Experience working with government counterparts, private sector, financial institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate large teams and work effectively and collaboratively in team environments.
- Experience in the Middle East and North Africa is required; Egypt experience is preferred.
- Master’s degree in a field related to agriculture, economics, or business administration is preferred.
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in Arabic is strongly preferred.
