WHAT YOU’LL DO

As part of our global initiatives, you’ll help to design and develop a range of projects, from groundbreaking research to transformative rural development. You’ll be at the heart of our Project Development Group, where you’ll:

Project Development:

  • Scout for fresh funding opportunities, gathering donor intelligence and share insights across our International Development and Knowledge Business teams.
  • Collaborate closely with CABI scientists, shaping and polishing project proposals to ensure they hit the mark.
  • Help craft logical frameworks, budgets, and project plans, while ensuring key aspects like gender, climate change, and youth are at the forefront.
  • Fine-tune bid documents to align perfectly with donor priorities and ensure they’re presented in a winning style.
  • Handle financial data with precision, ensuring all submissions meet donor requirements and CABI’s high standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of UK and/or global research and international development funding streams.
  • Proven track record in project/proposal development for UK or international donors.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in agriculture or agricultural development.
  • Experience working across geographies and cultures.
  • Strong grasp of applied biological science in international development, especially agriculture and the environment.
  • Familiarity with logical frameworks and strategic planning approaches.
  • Exceptional communication skills - able to convey complex ideas to both experts and non-experts.
  • Top-notch numeracy skills and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Desirable:

  • Insight into global/regional development issues and experience in research management or reporting.
  • Experience in agricultural development in developing countries, working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of gender issues and how to integrate gender and youth perspectives into projects.
  • Familiarity with digital tools in international development and knowledge management principles.
  • Competence in file sharing and customer relationship management platforms.
  • Fluency in at least one other major language.

Education & Qualifications

  • A BSc or MSc in a biological or social science (preferably in agriculture, agricultural development, or international development) is required.
  • A PhD or equivalent experience would be a plus.
