Summary:

Women’s World Banking is seeking a strategic and hands-on Policy and Advocacy Director to develop deep relationships with global regional and national bodies to drive increased focus and governmental resources to women’s financial inclusion issues. This strong influencer will understand how policy-making organizations operate, how identified relationships need to be cultivated, and how to influence desired actions.

The Policy and Advocacy Director will lead Women’s World Banking’s influencer strategy and own the relationships with a number of global organizations including but not limited to AFI, GPFI, and the World Economic Forum. In addition, the incumbent will oversee regional and national influencer strategies in coordination with in-country partners. For each identified relationship, the Policy and Advocacy Director will design a roadmap of activities in order to engage with the organization in support of Women’s World Banking efforts that drive more focus on women’s financial inclusion issues.

This is a brand-new position for the organization and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape Women’s World Banking’s policy and advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure focus on women’s financial inclusion in strategies, policies, regulations and other activities of global, regional and national policy makers;
  • Develop, update and implement customized influencer strategies;
  • Become an active member of global, regional and national working groups related to financial inclusion;
  • Share latest issues and trends being discussed by targeted organizations and recommend Women’s World Banking’s approach to these issues;
  • Draft policy briefs on critical issues related to women’s financial inclusion;
  • Find allies to engage with and draw greater attention to women’s financial inclusion;
  • Represent Women’s World Banking at global fora;
  • Develop meaningful key performance indicators for policy and advocacy work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • 10 – 12 years working in a policy-driven global international development organization;
  • Experience in leading policy and advocacy efforts and building relationships with multilateral/bilateral development organizations and national-level policymakers.
  • Deep experience in developing and managing relationships with complex, global organizations;
  • Expertise in influencing policy/increasing focus on key issues;
  • Superior writing, verbal and PowerPoint skills;
  • Fluent in oral and written English;
  • Willingness to take on significant travel to emerging markets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial inclusion;
  • Commitment to women’s economic issues;
  • Master’s degree in public policy or international development;
  • Effective relationship management skills;
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French.
