Position Summary:

World Relief DuPage/Aurora (WRDA) seeks a talented Communications Manager to join our team serving refugees and immigrants. The Communications Manager will share the story of WRDA’s work with a wide variety of constituencies, including local churches, volunteers, community members and donors. This position is an integral part of the church engagement and development efforts of WRDA, and plays a strategic role in helping the organization increase its network of engaged supporters, churches and volunteers, and expand its local impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, gather, and creatively develop stories for use in digital and traditional marketing materials;
  • Develop and produce original content (including video, digital graphics, written stories, direct mail) to deploy across WRDA’s marketing channels;
  • Coordinate the execution of a quarterly newsletter and monthly updates to share stories and updates about WRDA’s work with key stakeholders;
  • Manage the weekly deployment of digital content across social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram);
  • Manage WRDA’s website and execute the web site copy writing;
  • Develop and maintain promotional and communications materials;
  • Develop an annual marketing and communications calendar and plan in conjunction with the Executive Director and members of the WRDA Development & Leadership Teams;
  • Maintain the “look and feel” of all communications (including marketing materials, websites, presentations, training materials, etc) consistent with the branding of World Relief both internationally and locally;
  • Coordinate press releases and/or other media contacts in conjunction with the Executive Director and in accord with WR policy and procedure;
  • Supervise interns working on outreach and communications projects.

Requirements Qualifications:

  • Personal Christian faith and a heart for service to vulnerable people;
  • Committed to the mission, vision and values of World Relief;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong visual and written storytelling ability;
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with multiple deadlines and stakeholders, executing and prioritizing tasks efficiently and accurately;
  • Fluency and experience in using social media channels to market campaigns, products and events;
  • Graphic design, web management and/or desktop publishing experience required including experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office programs;
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced team environment, working with attention to detail and quality;
  • Cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity; commitment to community development and telling stories that empower and invite participation;
  • Willing to learn, ask for help and demonstrate a growth mindset;
  • Positive, professional, team-oriented interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to mobilize and activate volunteers to carry out projects;
  • Able to handle confidential information;
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications or related field.
