Job Summary:

The Program Manager assists the Deputy Country Representative in all aspects of project implementation. S/he provides support for the performance monitoring of project deliverables in all projects in India. The Program Manager will assist in ensuring quality implementation of program activities, developing timely donor reports and will work in close collaboration with the field teams of all the projects in India and support in headquarter interface. S/he will assist in monitoring the projects and documenting the progress, successes and lessons learnt in all the projects in India.


  • Provide support for planning, implementing, monitoring along with ensuring timely completion of project activities;
  • Track the progress of Activities based on the work plan developed and monitor the project expenditure and facilitate spending as per budget;
  • Identify gaps and prepare an action plan in coordination with the project teams;
  • Coordinate with project teams and Headquarter teams for preparing reports;
  • Compile high quality project reports as per donors’ established data quality standards and ensure timely submission;
  • Backstop in Project Management to project teams for maintaining quality project management standards;
  • Assist project teams in the development of the annual project work plans and performance monitoring plans (PMPs);
  • Travel to field visits and interact with the field teams and provide support to strengthen project activities;
  • Work closely with project staff to coordinate efforts to support project implementation;
  • Support in collating data and provide input in the development of the project’s quarterly and annual reports;
  • Support in preparing PMP reports on monthly basis;
  • Support in headquarter interface;
  • The Program Manager will help the Deputy Country Representative in providing oversight across all projects and will also provide mentoring support to Senior Program Officer;
  • Manage project data and conduct data analysis using standard software packages where applicable;
  • Assist in the documentation of good practices and share lessons learned for the benefit of existing and future programs;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Post graduate in health management; public health or relevant branch of social sciences; experience working for international organizations in RH/FP area;
  • At least 8-10 years of working experience in monitoring and managing RH/FP program activities;
  • Experience of working for international organizations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good understanding and knowledge of health information management system in India; RCH; family planning; community engagement, quality improvement and quality assurance;
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Experience in working on a statistical software- SPSS/ STATA/ Access/ Epi-Info—added advantage but not a pre-requisite;
  • Expertise in collecting and compiling data; analyzing and preparing reports;
  • Demonstrated program management skills;
  • Solid analytical skills;
  • Strong writing skills in English;
  • Ability to converse fluently in Hindi;
  • Well organized, flexible with ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Able to work in a team setting;
  • Willingness to travel extensively to Project sites.
